Testing IPs

Edited

Overview

When building out new campaigns, you should always test your configurations before using them live in new marketing materials or social media posts - and since we don't want you to be concerned about artificially driving up your engagement numbers, we introduced Testing IPs, and Mark as Testing.

Testing IPs allows you to specify that any scan or click made from any of your established testing IPs will automatically mark that event as a testing event. This allows you to test and experience the system's configuration from the user's perspective without inflating your engagement numbers.

There is also a feature that allows you to mark any event as a testing event in the case you forget to add an IP to your testing IPs or someone new started testing that you were not expecting.

You can easily reverse this action and remove an event from testing if a mistake was made while evaluating activity on your assets.

A similar feature called Testing Numbers has also been created for Calls and can be viewed here:

Mark your Home or Office as Testing

We recommend that you enter the IPs or IP subnet block of your home office or main company office as Testing IPs so any scans or clicks that originate from these locations are automatically marked as testing.

Not sure what your current IP address is? Visit this website to see what IP you appear to be coming from at your current location (make sure you are not on a VPN prior to visiting this website):

We recommend you do the same for Testing Numbers and enter any common home office or main company office phone numbers as Testing Numbers so that any calls from those numbers automatically mark those calls as testing calls.

How to Mark an Event as Testing

There are several places you can mark an event as testing, the first is the Testing IPs screen where once you configure a new testing IP - all future activity from that IP will automatically be marked as testing. You should consider setting up a testing IP for every new remote user you add to the system, or your main offices.

The second place you can mark an event as a testing is from the QR Codes & Links Dashboard. Below the scorecards and charts, in the grid of event data, you can select Mark as Testing from the ellipse menu at the right end of each row.

The third place you can mark an event as a testing is from the Campaigns Dashboard. Below the scorecards and charts, in the grid of calls, scans and click data, you can select Mark as Testing from the ellipse menu at the right end of each row. From the Campaigns Dashboard, you can mark calls, scans and clicks as testing.

Marking an event as a testing call will remove the event from your dashboard and analytics. The only place you will see this event will be the Recent Test Events grid under Testing IPs.

How to Remove from Testing

If an event was accidently marked as a testing event, you can navigate to Testing IPs, and in the bottom grid of Recent Test Events, you can select Remove from Testing from the ellipse menu at the right of each row.

Removing an event from testing will add the event back to your dashboards and analytics.

Conclusion

QIVIR is dedicated to the accuracy of your campaign engagement data but wants to make sure you can properly test all your new configurations before setting them live. In addition to having Testing IPs for QR Codes & Links, we also have Testing Numbers for calls that can be configured to help keep your data accurate.
